Ranking of the best medical courses
According to Exame magazine, the British consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) established a ranking with the best medical schools in the world. And from that list, 15 courses are Brazilian!

Except for PUC-RS, all institutions on the list are public. But if you are thinking about studying Medicine and do not feel safe taking the entrance exam at these universities, know that there are private colleges that offer a degree in Medicine and are recognized and well-reviewed by the Ministry of Education (MEC).
Private Faculties of Medicine
Private education networks offer the Medicine course in several cities across the country. The Anhanguera Educational Center (ANHANGUERA) , for example, is present in Maceió/AL, Salvador/BA, Vitória/ES, Belo Horizonte/MG, Curitiba/PR, Joinville/SC, among others.
And in addition to Anhanguera, we also have the University City of São Paulo (UNICID) in São Paulo/SP and Brasília/DF and the University of Franca (UNIFRAN) in Franca.
All of them are recognized by the MEC and renowned in the labor market.

Scholarships and discounts at the private medical school
Many private colleges offer their own incentive programs and those of the Government, as is Centro Educacional Anhanguera (ANHANGUERA).

University for All Program (ProUni): The Ministry of Education’s (MEC) incentive program is awarded based on Enem’s grade. Peroni offers full and partial (50%) scholarships according to requirements such as grades and participation in public education.
Student Financing Fund (FIES): The financing offered by the Federal Government allows students who meet the required profile to pay for their course after graduation, with very low interest rates.
Private Student Installment (PEP): Financing promoted by Anhanguera for students who cannot pay the monthly fee. Financing of up to 70% of the course fee is offered, to be paid after graduation.

Folha released a ranking with the best medical schools in Brazil in 2016. In the list, five universities in São Paulo are among the top 10. Only one private, also from São Paulo, was at the top of the list. See below:
1st – Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) – Traditionally recognized as an institution specializing in health sciences, Unifesp is responsible for training qualified human resources and developing scientific health research.
2nd – University of São Paulo (USP) – The talent and dedication of professors, students, and employees have been recognized by different world rankings, created to measure the quality of universities based on various criteria, especially those related to scientific productivity.
3rd – State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) – Unicamp accounts for 15% of academic research in Brazil and maintains the leadership among Brazilian universities regarding patents and the number of articles per capita published annually in journals indexed in journals the database. ISI/WoS data.
4th – Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) – UFMG develops teaching programs and projects, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, research and extension, in the form of on-site and distance activities, in eight areas of knowledge.
5th – Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) – UFRGS, headquartered in Porto Alegre, is a centennial institution recognized nationally and internationally. It teaches courses in all areas of knowledge and at all levels, from Elementary School to Graduate.
6th – Júlio de Mesquita Filho State University of São Paulo (UNESP) – Unesp, created in 1976, resulted from the incorporation of the Isolated Institutes of Higher Education of the State of São Paulo, then university units located in different parts of the interior of São Paulo.
7th – Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) – UFRJ is the largest federal university in Brazil and one of the centers of excellence in teaching and research in the country and Latin America.
8th – University of Brasília (UNB) – and operates in all areas of knowledge, open to the main demands of Brazil and the world.
9th – Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa São Paulo (FCMSCSP) – The only private university on the list, FCMSCSP is ranked among the best Institutions of Higher Education in Medicine in the country, according to an assessment carried out by the Ministry of Education (Canada) in 2013.
10th – Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) – UFPR demonstrates its importance and excellence through undergraduate, specialization, master’s and doctoral courses, guided by the principle of inseparability between Teaching, Research, and Extension.
